A-Z: Etsy - When There Isn't Enough Crap To Buy In Your Own Neighborhood

Yes, I came late to Etsy.  Because I have no problem dropping wads of cash (that I can't afford) on local stores, craft faires, and artists.

So, why Etsy?  Well, for one thing, some of my friends are Etsy merchants. For another, there's merchandise on Etsy that you simply can't find anywhere else.

This is making Etsy one of:
My 26 Favorite Ways to Piss Away Time Do Valuable Research on the Interwebs.
  The Hunger Games Inspired Earrings
Under "Geekery," I found these Hunger Games/Mockingjay inspired earrings.  I loved the books, and thought Jennifer Lawrence rocked the role of Katniss in the movie.  If I wasn't old enough to be Katniss's grandmother mother hot older sister, and therefore needing to maintain my mature image, I would totally buy and wear these earrings.

Got a butt?  (And sunglasses?) How about this one-of-a-kind loveseat?

Rockabilly Retro Loveseat
You gotta admit, you don't see one of these at Living Spaces.

There's a Category on Etsy called Children, but despite the photos, you can't actually buy a child.

FREE SHIPPING REaDY To SHIp Unisex Easter Bunny Hat Beanie Toddler to Teen
You can, however, buy this totally adorable Easter Bunny beanie, with or without the pink bow.

Bottle stoppers, earrings, picture frames, coffee mugs.  Things found, things made, things dissembled from other things.  Vintage clothing and purses.  Hair extensions. (Which I had to buy and try, as my character wears them.)

Etsy says of itself:
Etsy is more than a marketplace: we're a community of artists, creators, collectors, thinkers and doers.
We can use more of all of the above in this world.  So, now in addition to local artists, I've added Etsy to my list of places to look for cool shit unique merchandise.

My A-Z theme is My 26 Favorite Ways to Piss Away Time Do Valuable Research on the Interwebs.

Truly, sometimes an idea from a "pointless" fun site or post or photograph does result in pages and pages of writing. Or at least a blog post or two.

Are you an Etsy merchant or customer?
What's the best thing you've ever bought (or sold) there?
