A-Z: I've Got a Huge Girl-Crush on The Bloggess

Who can forget the advent of Beyonce, the giant metal chicken that "will cut you!" in And that's why you should learn to pick your battles...?

I adore The Bloggess because she's a terrific, laugh-till-the-tears-are-rolling-down-your-cheeks-and-you've-peed-in-your-pants writer, and because a generous, caring soul shines through everything she does.  Unlike some mega-bloggers, she not only looks to entertain and make a few bucks with her writing, and rather bizarre collection of taxidermied animals, but she helps other people all the time.

Which is why visiting The Bloggess is one of:
My 26 Favorite Ways to Piss Away Time Do Valuable Research on the Interwebs.

Other favorite posts:
The Wolf Blitzer - Because doesn't everyone need a hoodie with a genuine wolf head attached?  (My, what big eyes you have!)

Can You Carry An Alligator on a Plane? -  In which Jean-Louis, a 50 year old dead alligator, is totally stylin' in his jaunty beret.  Scrolling down, the comments are (almost) the best part.

The Place Your Bets, Cobra vs. Chupacabra/Honey Badger/Mongoose-with-Mange Post

In 2010, she and James Garfield saved Christmas for a whole bunch of people having a rough time.

Then there's my favorite, The Travelling Red Dress.

I want, just once, to wear a bright red, strapless ball gown with no apologies.  I want to be shocking, and vivid and wear a dress as intensely amazing as the person I so want to be.  And the more I thought about it the more I realized how often we deny ourselves that red dress and all the other capricious, ridiculous, overindulgent and silly things that we desperately want but never let ourselves have because they are simply ‘not sensible’.Things like flying lessons, and ballet shoes, and breaking into spontaneous song, and building a train set, and crawling onto the roof just to see the stars better.  Things like cartwheels and learning how to box and painting encouraging words on your body to remind yourself that you’re worth it.

Her words and vision has spawned an intense second wave of "the red dress movement," as featured in Forbes Magazine, no less.

And... she's got a book out.  Which you should totally buy.  (Unless you hate laughing, in which case, never mind.)

My A-Z theme is My 26 Favorite Ways to Piss Away Time Do Valuable Research on the Interwebs.

Truly, sometimes an idea from a "pointless" fun site or post or photograph does result in pages and pages of writing.  Or at least a blog post or two.
